Residents of Abakpa New Extension in Kaduna North Local Government Area have commended Honourable Abdullahi Yarima for funding the rapid repair of the community’s faulty electricity transformer, which restored power after weeks of blackout.
The intervention, according to community leaders, came after an appeal was made to Yarima over the prolonged power outage, which had disrupted household activities, businesses and access to water from electrically powered boreholes.
The transformer was repaired and electricity restored within one week, a development residents described as a significant relief.
Residents Recall Weeks Of Hardship
The prolonged outage had particularly affected households that depended on electric pumps to access water from boreholes.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Alhaji Alamin K. Wambai expressed appreciation to Yarima for responding promptly to their concerns.
“We sincerely appreciate Hon. Abdullahi Yarima for his prompt response. The repair of this transformer has given significant relief to many families, particularly those who rely on electric pumps to draw water from our boreholes,” Wambai said.»
Another community leader, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, said the speed with which the transformer was restored had made the intervention particularly notable.
“This is the first time we have seen our transformer repaired within one week. His quick response shows he truly listens to the people’s concerns,” Mohammed said.»
Women Applaud Intervention
Hajiya Rabi Maman Hauwa, who spoke on behalf of women in the community, also expressed appreciation for the restoration of electricity.
She said the development had brought relief and renewed hope to residents, while urging other well-to-do individuals to support projects that address pressing community needs.
“We are happy. May Allah continue to bless him. We also appeal to other privileged people to support projects that directly improve the lives of ordinary citizens in their communities,” she said.»
Community Recalls Health Centre Support
The residents also cited another intervention by Yarima within the past month, when he donated GeePee water tanks to Abakpa Primary Health Care Centre to improve water availability at the facility.
Community leaders said the power and water interventions had addressed two basic needs affecting residents and public service delivery.
They expressed appreciation for the support and called for more interventions targeting essential infrastructure and community welfare.
The latest intervention has attracted attention from residents amid concerns over prolonged electricity outages and delays in restoring essential public infrastructure in parts of Kaduna State.
