The Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International (TI) Nigeria, Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, has been honoured with the Transparency International Amalia Award for Individual Professional Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the global anti-corruption movement.

The prestigious award was presented on July 1, 2026, during the Transparency International Movement Awards Ceremony, which marked the close of the TI Summit 2026 held from June 29 to July 1.

Named after the late Amalia Kostanyan, former Chair of Transparency International Armenia, the Amalia Award is among the organisation’s highest distinctions.

The Individual Professional Excellence category recognises exceptional leadership, innovation, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity across the Transparency International movement.

Rafsanjani was recognised for his sustained efforts in championing transparency, democratic governance, institutional accountability, and anti-corruption reforms in Nigeria and beyond.

Under his leadership, CISLAC has expanded its evidence-based advocacy, strengthened fiscal transparency initiatives, promoted electoral integrity, and enhanced regional collaboration on governance reforms.

Presenting the award, Chair of Transparency International, François Valérian, praised Rafsanjani’s steadfast commitment to combating corruption and his exemplary leadership of Transparency International Nigeria.

Valérian noted that under Rafsanjani’s leadership, the Nigerian chapter has emerged as a more influential voice within the global Transparency International network through its active participation in international policy engagements, conferences, and collaborative anti-corruption initiatives.

He added that Rafsanjani’s principled leadership, resilience, and impactful advocacy have strengthened the organisation’s reputation while advancing transparency and accountability across Nigeria and the African continent.

Responding to the honour, Rafsanjani dedicated the award to the CISLAC team, development partners, and anti-corruption advocates, describing the recognition as a reflection of their collective commitment to promoting integrity and good governance.

He reaffirmed his resolve to continue advancing democratic governance, institutional reforms, transparency, and accountability across Nigeria, Africa, and the international community.

The award further highlights CISLAC’s growing prominence within the Transparency International movement and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting good governance, and advancing accountability.
