A fire incident on Sunday affected a section of Terminal 2 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, prompting an emergency response from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
FAAN confirmed the incident in a statement issued via its official X account, assuring the public that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was swiftly deployed to contain the blaze.
The authority said firefighters were actively working to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the terminal.
“There are no reported casualties or loss of life,” FAAN stated, adding that emergency personnel remained on the ground to manage the incident.
The agency appealed for calm, assuring passengers and members of the public that every necessary measure was being taken to ensure safety and minimise disruption to airport operations.
The cause of the fire had not been disclosed as of the time of filing this report, while further details were being awaited from the airport authority.
