Babagana Umara Zulum has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for advancing educational opportunities through the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship in Bama, Borno State.
The governor gave the commendation while reacting to the appointment of principal officers for the newly created institution.
Speaking during a visit to the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, in Abuja on Thursday, Zulum described the swift constitution of the university’s management team as a clear demonstration of the president’s commitment to strengthening education in Borno State and the wider North-East region.
He also praised the Minister of Education for his role and support in facilitating the appointment of the institution’s key officers, noting that the development marks an important milestone in the growth of tertiary education in the region.
Governor Zulum assured the Federal Government of the Borno State Government’s readiness to collaborate fully toward the successful take-off of the university, pledging all necessary assistance to ensure the smooth commencement of academic activities.
The newly appointed principal officers include Prof. Tijjani Kalli as Vice Chancellor, Abba Kaka as Registrar, Bashir Subaru as Bursar, and Aishatu Halilu as Librarian.
According to the governor, the establishment of the university and the appointment of its leadership would boost access to quality education while also driving agricultural research, entrepreneurship development, economic growth, and human capital advancement across Borno State and the North-East.
Zulum further expressed optimism that the institution would serve as a catalyst for innovation and sustainable development, particularly in agriculture and enterprise education.
The governor was accompanied on the visit by a member of the House of Representatives, Engr. Bukar Talba; Chairman of the Borno State Social Investment Programme, Hon. Yuguda Vungas Saleh; and elder statesman, Alhaji Mamman Tubo.
