Command Secondary School, Mbiri, in Delta State, has secured full accreditation from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to operate as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s drive towards academic advancement and technological development.
The School Commandant, Lt. Col. Muritala Mohammed, disclosed this during the school’s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) meeting held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the school premises.
Giving an account of the development, Mohammed said he discovered an abandoned and dilapidated CBT facility upon assuming office, noting that the centre had become completely non-functional due to years of neglect.
He explained that, determined to restore the facility to operational status, he initiated a comprehensive rehabilitation programme and secured a special intervention from the Army Headquarters through the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Education Corps.
The intervention facilitated the provision of 250 HP laptops and an alternative power infrastructure comprising a 25KVA inverter, 34KW lithium batteries and 40 units of 600-watt bifacial solar panels.
According to the Commandant, the intervention went beyond the restoration of the physical structure, as he also secured the support of the PTA Executive for the installation of air-conditioning systems to ensure a comfortable and conducive environment for candidates taking examinations at the centre.
He expressed appreciation to the PTA leadership and members for their cooperation, generosity and willingness to partner with the school management in its determination to build a sustainable institution anchored on academic excellence.
The Commandant described the successful accreditation as an important achievement that would further enhance the school’s standing and expand access to computer-based examination facilities within the area.
In his remarks, the PTA Chairman, Hon. Ekhosuehi R. Ikponmwen, applauded Mohammed for his purposeful leadership, resourcefulness and commitment to repositioning the institution.
Ikponmwen observed that the rehabilitation and accreditation of the CBT centre represented more than an improvement in the school’s physical infrastructure, describing it as a strategic investment in intellectual development, digital literacy and the adoption of modern information and communication technology.
He reaffirmed the PTA’s commitment to supporting initiatives capable of improving the learning environment and strengthening the institution’s overall educational standards.
Meanwhile, the school management has appealed to well-meaning individuals, philanthropists, corporate organisations and other development partners in Delta State and beyond to support its ongoing developmental initiatives.
The management noted that sustained assistance from stakeholders would accelerate the actualisation of its infrastructure and educational projects, while consolidating the school’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
