Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, has expressed profound grief over the death of former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his passing as a painful personal loss.

Uduaghan died on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71, just three days before his 72nd birthday.

Osuoza, who served under the late governor as Commissioner for Special Duties (Project Monitoring), said his time in Uduaghan’s administration gave him a rare opportunity to experience firsthand the late leader’s character, leadership philosophy and commitment to the development of Delta State.

In a heartfelt tribute issued on Monday, Osuoza described Uduaghan as a compassionate leader, a consummate administrator and a statesman whose humility, humanity and dedication to public service distinguished his tenure.

He noted that the former governor’s commitment to the progress of Delta State was reflected in his policies and initiatives, particularly the Delta Beyond Oil vision, which sought to diversify the state’s economy and reduce its dependence on oil revenue.

Osuoza also highlighted Uduaghan’s contributions to infrastructural development, healthcare delivery and the promotion of peaceful coexistence, describing them as enduring aspects of his administration’s legacy.

According to him, the former governor’s death represents not only a significant loss to Delta State but also a deeply personal bereavement for those who worked closely with him and benefited from his leadership.

“My heartfelt condolences go to his beloved wife, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, his children, the entire Uduaghan family and the good people of Delta State,” Osuoza said.

Paying his final tribute to his former principal, the commissioner said Uduaghan had left an indelible mark through his years of service and contributions to the state.

“Farewell, my former boss! You came, you served, and you left your footprints on the sands of time,” he said.

Osuoza prayed that Almighty God would grant the departed former governor eternal rest and comfort his family, associates and the people of Delta State over the irreparable loss.

“May Almighty God grant your gentle soul eternal repose. Amen,” he added.
