ASABA, DELTA STATE — The management of The Story has formally apologised to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, over the unauthorised use of his photograph in an earlier publication, while acknowledging the church’s significant contributions to society through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
In a letter dated May 22, 2026, and addressed to the General Overseer, the management of The Story expressed regret over the use of Pastor Adeboye’s photograph to illustrate a news report published by the newspaper.
The publication acknowledged that the photograph was used without due authorisation and conveyed its sincere apologies to Pastor Adeboye, stressing that the newspaper had no intention of portraying him or the RCCG in a negative light.
The management also appealed for the General Overseer’s understanding and forgiveness, describing the incident as regrettable and assuring that greater care would be taken in future publications.
Beyond the apology, the development provides an opportunity to recognise the broader social impact of the RCCG and the leadership of Pastor Adeboye, particularly through the church’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
Over the years, the RCCG has been associated with interventions aimed at supporting communities and vulnerable members of society, including educational, humanitarian, healthcare and empowerment initiatives.
Such interventions, the newspaper noted, demonstrate the important role religious organisations can play in complementing government and other stakeholders in addressing social challenges and improving the wellbeing of citizens.
The management of The Story commended Pastor Adeboye for providing leadership to a church whose activities extend beyond spiritual responsibilities to include humanitarian and community-oriented interventions.
