Senator Ned Munir Nwoko has commended President Bola Tinubu for officially flagging off the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge linking Delta and Anambra States (Phase 2A, Contract No. 8792) and the reconstruction of the Asaba-Benin Expressway.

In a letter addressed to the President and shared with journalists on Sunday, Nwoko described the projects as being of immense strategic importance not only to the South-South and South-East regions but to Nigeria at large.

“These projects hold immense strategic value, not only for the South-South and South-East regions but for Nigeria as a whole,” he wrote, applauding Tinubu’s commitment to economic integration, national unity, and infrastructure development.

He highlighted the poor state of the Asaba-Benin Expressway, which he said has caused severe hardship for commuters and businesses.

“As a senator representing Delta North, I have consistently engaged the Federal Ministry of Works on this issue and formally appealed to the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr.) David Nweze Umahi, for urgent intervention,” he stated.

Nwoko expressed satisfaction that these efforts, supported by Tinubu’s responsive leadership, had led to concrete progress, including the inclusion of the projects in the national budget.

He also praised the Senate, under President Godswill Akpabio, for passing a resolution that prioritizes the rehabilitation of federal roads across the country.

As a member of the Senate Committee on Works, Nwoko reaffirmed the committee’s position that all national roads must be reconstructed to boost economic activity and ensure safer, more efficient transportation.

“In view of the nation’s current fiscal constraints, we are deeply grateful that our region is among the first to benefit from this critical intervention,” he added.

Nwoko emphasized that the flag-off of these projects will not only improve regional connectivity among Delta, Anambra, Edo, and beyond but will also stimulate economic growth and ease transportation challenges.

He further praised Minister Umahi for his “hands-on approach and unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure,” noting that his dedication to nationally significant projects is commendable.

“As a representative of my people, I have championed these critical projects knowing their far-reaching impact. The progress we celebrate today is a collective triumph for our region,” Nwoko said.

He pledged to continue collaborating with the Tinubu administration on initiatives aimed at uplifting his constituents and promoting sustainable development.

“Once again, I extend my heartfelt appreciation, Your Excellency, for your leadership and commitment to national progress,” Nwoko concluded.
