In a major stride toward youth empowerment and grassroots sports development, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has unveiled a state-of-the-art mini stadium in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The cutting-edge sports facility includes a full-sized modern football pitch, a seven-a-side multi-sports pitch, spectator pavilions on both flanks, and fully equipped dressing rooms.
Designed to invigorate local sports activities, the stadium is set to become a dynamic hub for aspiring athletes and sports lovers throughout Delta North and beyond.
Renowned for his passion for youth development and grassroots sports, Senator Nwoko has consistently invested in initiatives aimed at nurturing talent.
His most notable contribution is the establishment of Nigeria’s first Sports University in his hometown of Idumuje-Ugboko.
Now in its second academic session, the university offers a unique platform for students to pursue academic excellence while developing their sporting careers.
Speaking on the significance of the new stadium, Dr. Michael Nwoko, Chief of Staff to the Senator, stated, “Senator Nwoko believes in catching them young.
His vision is to identify and develop athletes early, rather than scrambling for talent just before major competitions.”
The facility not only supports the growth of future sports stars but also offers established athletes a chance to earn academic qualifications while continuing their athletic pursuits.
The stadium site, initially earmarked for a local government sports project by a past administration, had remained neglected for years.
Senator Nwoko’s intervention breathed new life into the long-abandoned project, transforming it into a modern facility poised to host local and regional sports events.
