Former Governor of Delta State and leading All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Delta North Senatorial seat, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has intensified consultations across the district, meeting with traditional rulers to seek their blessings and support ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The high-level engagement took place on Friday at the palace of the Obi of Owa Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Emmanuel Efeizomor II, where royal fathers from various communities across Delta North converged for discussions on issues affecting the senatorial district.

The meeting formed part of Okowa’s ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at strengthening relationships with key interest groups and gathering support for his political ambition.

Speaking after the consultation, the former governor said the interaction focused on fostering peace, unity and sustainable development across the district, stressing the need for collective commitment to advancing the welfare and aspirations of the people.

According to him, enduring progress in Delta North can only be achieved when leaders, traditional institutions and community stakeholders work together in pursuit of common goals.

“Our discussions focused on the continued peace, unity and development of Delta North, as well as the collective responsibility we share in advancing the interests and wellbeing of our people,” Okowa stated.

He described traditional rulers as critical partners in governance and community development, noting that their contributions to social harmony and cultural preservation remain indispensable.

“I deeply value the wisdom, counsel and leadership of our traditional rulers, whose role in preserving our culture, promoting harmony and fostering development remains invaluable,” he added.

Okowa also thanked the monarchs for receiving him and his delegation, describing the engagement as fruitful and insightful.

He reiterated his commitment to working closely with traditional institutions and other stakeholders to promote greater unity, stability and prosperity across Delta North.

“I am grateful to Their Royal Majesties for the warm reception and insightful engagement, and I remain committed to working with all stakeholders in pursuit of a stronger, more united and more prosperous Delta North,” he said.

Political observers view the consultation as a strategic move by the former governor to deepen grassroots support and strengthen ties with influential traditional institutions, which continue to play significant roles in community mobilization and consensus-building across the senatorial district.
