The Obi of Ugboba Kingdom and Chairman of the Aniocha North Traditional Rulers Committee, HRM Agbogidi Obi Ezedimbu Emmanuel Nkebakwu III, has marked his birthday by advancing digital education in his community through the donation of internet-enabled computers, school bags and learning materials to pupils of Ojeokpa Primary School in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The monarch’s gesture, which was aimed at promoting technology-driven learning and improving access to educational resources, benefited all 95 pupils of the school and was widely applauded by community leaders, education stakeholders and residents.

What was initially planned as a modest birthday observance evolved into a memorable community event as guests and well-wishers gathered at the school to celebrate a royal father renowned for his commitment to education, community development and youth empowerment.

Speaking during the presentation, Obi Nkebakwu said he deliberately chose to celebrate his birthday with the pupils because of his conviction that children remain the future leaders of society.

He explained that the donation of computers and internet facilities was designed to expose the pupils to digital knowledge at an early stage and prepare them for leadership and service in an increasingly technology-driven world.

According to him, investing in children’s education remains one of the most meaningful ways to contribute to national development.

“I want to introduce you to the world of computers and digital learning so that you can build the knowledge and skills needed to become future leaders and responsible citizens,” the monarch told the pupils.

He also charged members of staff to ensure the proper maintenance of the equipment, assuring them that additional computers would be provided if the facilities were effectively managed.

“If these computers are well maintained, I will, by God’s grace, double the number during my next birthday celebration,” he pledged.

The traditional ruler further commended the Member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ngozi Okolie, for facilitating the construction of a secondary school in the community, describing the project as a significant boost to educational development.

He pledged to extend similar educational support to the new secondary school and encouraged pupils to remain focused on their studies in preparation for future opportunities.

Reflecting on his decision to celebrate at the school rather than the palace, Obi Nkebakwu said the welfare and educational advancement of children remained a priority for him.

“My birthday could have been celebrated with fanfare at the palace, but I chose to spend it here because I value your education and future,” he said.

In a goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Council, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kennedy Okoh, praised the monarch for using his birthday to make a lasting impact on the lives of children.

He noted that the donation complemented the council’s efforts to improve educational standards across the local government area.

The council chairman also acknowledged the monarch’s contributions to peacebuilding, security and community development, announcing his appointment as Life Patron of the Aniocha North Education Committee in recognition of his support for education.

Earlier, the Headmistress of Ojeokpa Primary School, Mrs. Philomena Awele Nwasonwu, described the monarch as a dependable partner in the growth of the school.

She disclosed that the royal father had consistently supported the institution over the years through the provision of school uniforms and sponsorship of educational and sporting activities.

According to her, the installation of internet facilities and donation of computers represent a major milestone that will equip pupils with essential digital skills and improve their competitiveness in a rapidly evolving educational environment.

The functionality of the new ICT facility was demonstrated during the event by the project’s contractor, Engr. Kelly, who connected the computers to the internet, allowing guests to witness live access to online resources.

The celebration climaxed with the cutting of the birthday cake by the monarch after a toast proposed by Mrs. Roseline Abojei.

Among dignitaries present were the Obi of Umunede, HRM Agadagidi Ezeagwu Ezenweali; the Obi of Onicha-Ugbo, HRM Obi Victor Chukwumalieze; Secretary to Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Kennedy Okoh; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mosra Energy Limited, Mr. Olukayode Ramos; the Iyase Agba of Onicha-Ugbo, Chief Alex Odioko; Secretary of Ugboba Development Union, Chief Ofili Otobo; Public Relations Officer of Aniocha North Local Government Council, Deacon Chijioke Ugbolue; Publisher of Anioma Trust, Comrade Patrick Ochei; APC chieftain, Mr. Patrick Nwaoba; and several other prominent personalities.
