Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger, urging citizens to remain supportive of the Federal Government’s ongoing economic reforms.

Okowa made the call in his message to Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, commending citizens for their resilience and patience amid prevailing socio-economic difficulties.

He said the reforms being pursued by President Bola Tinubu were necessary to rebuild the economy and address longstanding national challenges, urging Nigerians to contribute to the country’s recovery through collective commitment and sacrifice.

According to the former governor, the President is making efforts to steer the country out of its prolonged economic difficulties and requires the understanding and support of citizens to achieve the desired results.

“The way to a desired destination is often strewn with difficulties, but with a well-articulated process and determination, hope turns into reality.

“This is the case with our dear country currently. As painful as the hardship and sacrifices may be, I join the President in appealing to Nigerians to be part of reform programmes,” Okowa said.

He expressed confidence that the sacrifices being made by Nigerians would eventually yield positive results, paving the way for a more prosperous and stable nation.

“The sacrifices of the citizenry, today, would secure a better Nigeria tomorrow,” he said, adding that “Nigeria will be great again.”

Okowa, however, acknowledged that significant work remained to be done to move the country towards its desired destination, stressing that achieving national progress would require courage, unity and sustained commitment from all stakeholders.

He congratulated the Federal Government and Nigerians on the anniversary, urging citizens to continue praying for the nation’s leaders and the people.

He said such prayers and collective efforts were necessary to build a country that present and future generations would be proud of.
