ASABA, Delta State — Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State commissioned a newly completed office complex and access road at the Oshimili South Local Government Council Secretariat in Asaba, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and governance at the grassroots.
Oborevwori said the projects were part of efforts to strengthen local administration and provide improved working conditions for civil servants while making public services more accessible to residents.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday August 27, 2026, the governor described Asaba as the heartbeat of his administration’s urban renewal efforts, noting that Oshimili South occupies a strategic position as an administrative hub, commercial centre and gateway for visitors to the state.
Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Sir. Monday Onyeme, the Governor said the provision of standard infrastructure at the grassroots remained critical to effective governance and aligned with the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, particularly its focus on Meaningful Development and Realistic Reforms.
According to him, the new office complex was designed as a modern and well-equipped workspace to enhance administrative efficiency, improve staff productivity and ensure that residents receive civil services in a dignified environment.
He added that the newly constructed access road would improve accessibility to the council secretariat, reduce traffic bottlenecks and strengthen connectivity within the surrounding community.
Oborevwori commended the Oshimili South Local Government Council leadership, contractors and engineers for delivering the projects to standard.
The governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the financial reforms that had strengthened the capacity of local government councils had enabled them to meet their obligations to workers and undertake major development projects.
He urged staff and civil servants who would occupy the new facility to take ownership of the infrastructure and maintain it responsibly.
“Bear in mind always that this facility belongs to the public,” the governor said, urging the workers to ensure that the structures remained functional and continued to serve residents for years to come.
Oborevwori further assured residents that his administration would sustain the execution of projects across all 25 local government areas of Delta State.
“Our commitment to executing life-enriching projects across all 25 Local Government Areas remains firm,” he said, adding that the government would continue to deliver quality roads, upgraded public utility spaces and improved social services.
The governor subsequently commissioned the newly completed office complex and access road for use by the Oshimili South Local Government Council and the people of the area.
