WARRI — The National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for Warri Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Comrade Mulade Blessing Sheriff, PhD, has pledged to pursue peace, unity and inclusive development among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo communities if elected.
Mulade, a United Nations Peace Ambassador and environmental rights advocate, made the commitment during the formal flag-off of his campaign and consultation meeting with supporters and stakeholders in Warri.
He said his aspiration was driven by the need to provide effective representation capable of attracting greater federal attention and developmental opportunities to the constituency.
According to him, the constituency, despite its significant contribution to Nigeria’s economy, has not received commensurate attention in terms of infrastructure, youth empowerment, employment and other development initiatives.
Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, said his representation would be anchored on competence, capacity, constructive advocacy and inclusive engagement.
He pledged to work with relevant stakeholders and the three tiers of government to pursue the resuscitation of the Warri and Koko seaports, revitalisation of the Warri Industrial Park and other initiatives capable of stimulating economic activities in the constituency.
He also promised to promote employment and empowerment programmes for youths and women through agriculture, fisheries, skills acquisition and other sustainable economic ventures.
“If elected in 2027 into the House of Representatives, Warri City and its environs would be given the deserved attention through constructive advocacy and engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
“I assure you that the voice of the people of Warri Federal Constituency will be heard constructively at the National Assembly,” he said.
The NDP candidate said his campaign was not motivated by political spectacle, but by a determination to bridge existing gaps in representation through what he described as “constructive advocacy, engagement and an inclusive approach.”
He further called on the people of the constituency to reject divisions based on ethnic considerations, stressing that sustainable development could only be achieved through cooperation and mutual trust among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo.
“We cannot continue to fight ourselves. We cannot continue to deprive ourselves, and we cannot continue to destroy ourselves.
“Now is the time for us to rise above our individualistic and ethnic considerations and build a broader relationship founded on trust, peace and unity across Warri Federal Constituency,” he said.
Mulade described himself as an “original and independent voice” seeking to provide people-oriented representation, while urging voters and stakeholders to support a leadership approach centred on development and inclusion.
