Ibegbelum Celebrates Okowa At 67, Hails Legacy Of Service, Leadership

Principal Secretary to former Delta State Governor, Dr. Hilary Ibegbelum, has paid glowing tribute to Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on the occasion of his 67th birthday, describing him as an accomplished statesman whose life has been defined by selfless service, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of Delta State and Nigeria.

In a goodwill message marking the former governor’s birthday, Ibegbelum said Okowa’s remarkable journey in public service reflects decades of dedication to governance, grassroots development and nation-building.

He recalled that Okowa began his political career as Secretary to the defunct Ika Local Government Council before serving as the pioneer Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Council, noting that the early appointments laid the foundation for a distinguished career in public administration and leadership.

According to him, Okowa further demonstrated exceptional administrative capacity during his service as Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Commissioner for Water Resources Development and Commissioner for Health, where he initiated policies and programmes that improved the welfare of the people.

Ibegbelum also highlighted Okowa’s contributions as Secretary to the Delta State Government, Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District and Governor of Delta State for two terms, describing his years in office as a period marked by purposeful leadership, political foresight and enduring investments in the state’s development.

He said Okowa’s continued relevance in national politics, including his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North Senatorial candidate, underscores the confidence reposed in his leadership and his enduring appeal across political divides.
