Hon. Anyafulu Celebrates Delta Students’ Triumph At World Debate Championship In Qatar

(DTHA), Hon. (Barr.) Ifechukwukwu Bridget Anyafulu, has extended heartfelt congratulations to five Delta State students who led Nigeria to a historic victory at the 2025 World Schools Debate Championship held in Doha, Qatar.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Anyafulu hailed the outstanding performance of the students! Wisdom Chukwuma, Otorvo Uyoyou, Abraham Honour, Ekhamateh Splendour, and Alika Daniel, all of whom are from public secondary schools across Delta State.

She described their success as a defining moment for both the state and the nation.

“Your stellar performance on the global stage is a shining example of what becomes possible when brilliance meets preparation, discipline, and opportunity,” Anyafulu stated.

“You have not only brought honour to Delta State, but you have also elevated Nigeria’s standing in the international academic community.”

She lauded the young scholars for exemplifying the values of excellence and resilience, noting that their victory is a reflection of the positive strides being made in Delta State’s education sector under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

“This remarkable achievement is a testament to the growing strength of Delta’s public education system and the boundless potential of our youth when given the right support and encouragement,” she added.

Anyafulu also commended the teachers, coaches, mentors, and families behind the team’s success, recognizing their critical roles in nurturing the students’ talents and confidence.

“To the devoted teachers, mentors, and families who walked this journey with you thank you for your tireless efforts and unwavering belief in these young champions,” she said.

The legislator urged the students to remain focused and see their victory as a springboard for even greater accomplishments, saying, “The world has taken notice and this is only the beginning of what I believe will be a legacy of excellence.”

The students had defeated strong contenders, including teams from Qatar and the U.S. State of Chicago, to emerge world champions, a feat widely celebrated across Nigeria.
