The Delta State Police Command has reiterated the importance of intelligence sharing and closer collaboration among security and intelligence agencies in tackling emerging security threats across the country.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, made the call on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, when the Command hosted participants of the Advanced Defence Intelligence Officers Course (ADIOC) 16/2026 of the Defence Intelligence College, Karu, Abuja, on a Nigeria Study Tour.
The 20 course participants and senior officers of the college were led by its Commandant, Commodore U.N. Bugaje, and received by CP Oyeniyi alongside members of the Command Management Team.
Speaking on the theme of the study tour, “Strengthening National Resilience Through Integrated, Multi-Agency Coordination and Regional Security Cooperation,” the Commissioner stressed that effective coordination among security agencies had become critical to addressing the increasingly complex nature of contemporary security challenges.
He called for prompt intelligence sharing, coordinated operational responses and sustained cooperation among security and intelligence institutions, noting that no single agency could effectively tackle the full spectrum of security threats in isolation.
CP Oyeniyi also highlighted some of the operational successes recorded by the Delta State Police Command, using practical experiences from the field to demonstrate the impact of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in crime prevention and control.
The presentation was followed by an interactive session during which the participants raised questions on policing, intelligence gathering, crime prevention and security operations.
The Commissioner, supported by senior officers of the Command, responded to the questions and provided further insights into the operational strategies adopted by the Delta Police Command.
The study tour ended with the Delta State Police Command reaffirming its commitment to strengthening partnerships with other security and intelligence agencies in its continued efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state.
