The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council’s Media and Publicity Committee in Delta State, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has said the party’s campaign will focus on governance, ongoing projects and policies that address the needs and aspirations of the people.
Aniagwu gave the assurance on Monday, October 26, 2026, while briefing journalists in Asaba, the Delta State capital, ahead of the forthcoming elections. He was flanked by members of the committee.
He said the campaign would be anchored on the administration’s performance and its commitment to delivering projects and programmes that improve the lives of the people, stressing that the party would not be distracted by political attacks or negative campaigning.
According to him, the committee’s responsibility is to communicate the achievements of the APC-led governments at the federal and state levels and demonstrate how their policies are addressing the challenges confronting the people.
“We will stay with the issues. And what are the issues? Projects that speak to the needs of our people, the desire of our people to have a state that functions for them, and the desire of our people to have a government that responds to their needs and aspirations,” he said.
Aniagwu maintained that the party would remain focused on its message throughout the campaign, adding that its communication strategy would be driven by the need to provide the electorate with credible information on governance and development.
He also acknowledged that political opponents were entitled to express their views, but insisted that the APC would present its case to the electorate by highlighting its capacity and track record in addressing the concerns of the people.
“We will not, by any stretch of the imagination, embark on mudslinging. We will stay with the things we are doing and continue to show our etiquette,” he said.
The committee chairman expressed confidence in the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the APC would use the campaign to explain how federal government initiatives had created opportunities for state governments to respond more effectively to economic and developmental challenges.
He noted that while the administration recognised the economic realities facing Nigerians, it would also communicate the measures being implemented to address them and the benefits expected to accrue to citizens.
Aniagwu said the campaign would explain how policies introduced at the macroeconomic level were gradually translating into interventions at the state and grassroots levels, with the ultimate objective of improving living conditions.
He urged journalists to partner with the committee in disseminating accurate information on the party’s policies, programmes and candidates, describing the media as an important stakeholder in the electoral process.
According to him, the committee would operate as a team and remain accessible to journalists, providing clarifications and responding to questions on issues relating to the elections and governance.
Aniagwu further explained that the committee’s mandate extended beyond the governorship and presidential campaigns to include all APC candidates contesting elective positions in Delta State.
These, he said, include candidates for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate across the three senatorial districts, as well as the governorship, deputy governorship, presidential and vice-presidential tickets.
He assured that the committee would address relevant political and governance issues affecting the candidates within the scope of the elections, leveraging the experience of its members to provide timely and credible information to the public.
Aniagwu said the media briefing was convened to familiarise journalists with the committee’s direction and establish a working relationship that would ensure effective communication throughout the campaign.
He reiterated that the APC would maintain an issue-based campaign, with emphasis on governance, development projects, policy outcomes and the party’s plans for addressing the needs and aspirations of Delta residents.
