The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council’s Media and Publicity Committee in Delta State, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has assured that the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections will be issue-based, with emphasis on governance, development projects and policies aimed at addressing the needs and aspirations of the people.

Aniagwu gave the assurance on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, while briefing journalists on the party’s communication strategy and expectations ahead of the elections.

He said the campaign would focus on presenting the achievements of the APC-led administrations at the federal and state levels, explaining government policies and demonstrating how their interventions were addressing the economic challenges confronting Nigerians.

According to him, the committee will remain committed to communicating verifiable results and highlighting projects and programmes that respond directly to the yearnings of the people.

Aniagwu stressed that the campaign would not be distracted by political mudslinging or negative rhetoric, noting that the party would rather engage its opponents on issues of governance, development and public welfare.

“We will not, by any stretch of the imagination, lose focus. The message will remain the core values we are putting forward as a government: projects that speak to the needs of our people and a government that responds to their aspirations,” he said.

He added that although political opponents were entitled to express their views and seek elective positions, the APC would respectfully engage differing opinions while making a strong case for its record and capacity to deliver effective governance.

The committee chairman further explained that the campaign would highlight the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly those he said had created opportunities for state governments to implement development programmes and respond to economic realities at the grassroots.

He acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country but maintained that the APC would communicate the measures being implemented by the federal and state governments to address them.

Aniagwu said the campaign would explain the relationship between macroeconomic reforms at the national level and their expected impact on the lives and livelihoods of citizens, stressing the need to sustain efforts aimed at improving economic conditions.

“We will admit the realities of the moment, but we will also put forward the efforts that have been made by the administration to address those realities,” he stated.

He called on newsmen to work collectively in ensuring that the party’s message was clearly communicated, urging them to provide the public with accurate information on the issues shaping the elections.

Aniagwu noted that the committee’s responsibility extended beyond the governorship and presidential campaigns to include all APC candidates contesting elective positions in Delta State.

He listed the candidates for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship and deputy governorship, as well as the presidential and vice-presidential tickets, among those whose campaigns would require coordinated media engagement.

According to him, the committee would address issues relating to the candidates and the election within its mandate, particularly those concerning governance and the development of the state and the country.

He expressed confidence in the experience and capacity of committee members to discharge their responsibilities effectively, assuring journalists of an open line of communication to facilitate access to relevant information throughout the campaign.

Aniagwu also urged media practitioners to partner with the committee in communicating the party’s programmes and positions, saying sustained engagement with the press was essential to ensuring that voters received reliable information.

He reiterated that the APC would maintain an issue-driven campaign anchored on its record, policy direction and development agenda, rather than being drawn into exchanges that could distract from matters of public importance.

The briefing was attended by members of the APC Campaign Council’s Media and Publicity Committee, who are expected to coordinate the party’s messaging and media engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
