The Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council has condemned the violence that disrupted a political procession organised by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.
The violence reportedly resulted in the death of one person, injuries to several others and destruction of property.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council’s Media and Publicity Committee, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, the APC Campaign Council expressed sadness over the incident and extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, the injured and others affected.
The Council stressed that political differences and ambitions should never be allowed to threaten human lives, public safety or peaceful coexistence.
It also called on the Delta State Police Command to conduct a transparent and comprehensive investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify those responsible and ensure that anyone found culpable, including alleged sponsors and instigators, is brought to justice.
According to the statement, no individual should be protected from the consequences of criminal conduct because of political affiliation or influence.
The APC Campaign Council further reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political participation, recalling that its leadership had, from the inauguration of the campaign council, pledged to pursue responsible and issue-based campaigns.
It maintained that its political engagement would remain focused on presenting its achievements, programmes, vision and policy alternatives to the people of Delta State rather than resorting to intimidation, violence or the destruction of property.
The Council urged political actors and their supporters to embrace tolerance, restraint and peaceful engagement in the interest of the state.
It reiterated its commitment to protecting the peace, security and collective interests of all Deltans.
