The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes across Agbor, Abbi and Oghara, rescuing a kidnap victim, arresting 10 suspects and recovering a locally made firearm and quantities of suspected illicit drugs.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday September 6, 2026, by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
In the first operation, police operatives attached to Agbor Division, acting on intelligence, rescued a 60-year-old man who had earlier been reported kidnapped.
The operation, conducted at about 6:00 p.m. on September 4, 2026, involved police personnel, forest guards and local security operatives who mobilised to Alisime Village.
According to the command, the operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers, forcing them to flee into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries, while the victim was rescued unharmed.
One mobile phone and an ATM card were recovered from the area, which was subsequently cordoned off as security operatives commenced a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
Ten Arrested In Abbi Hideout Raid
In a separate operation later that night, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit, CACU, Ozoro, raided a brothel in Abbi following credible intelligence concerning a suspect wanted in connection with an arson incident at Owhelogbo Community in August.
The raid, carried out at about 9:30 p.m., resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects comprising seven females and three males.
Police said quantities of Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered during the operation.
The command said profiling of the suspects was ongoing, adding that those found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Gun Recovered After Suspects Flee
Meanwhile, operatives of Oghara Division, working alongside a civilian anti-cult group, recovered a locally made cut-to-size firearm after responding to a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road, Oghara.
The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on September 4.
The suspects reportedly fled upon sighting the patrol team, during which one of them, identified by the alias “Highest”, allegedly discarded the firearm.
The weapon was recovered by the police, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commending the personnel involved in the operations, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, directed that efforts be intensified to apprehend all fleeing suspects.
Erale assured residents that the command would sustain intelligence-led operations, raids of identified criminal hideouts and patrols across the state.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the police in preventing and detecting crime.
The command said it remained committed to strengthening collaboration with local security structures and other stakeholders in its ongoing efforts to protect lives and property across Delta State.
