The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspects in separate operations targeting suspected armed robbery, attempted murder and stealing, recovering three locally made firearms, eight live cartridges and other exhibits.

The operations, carried out by operatives of the Orerokpe, Agbor and Otu-Jeremi Divisions, followed intelligence reports and a distress call, with support from community security stakeholders.

In a statement issued in Asaba on October 15, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, said the operations reflected the Command’s continued efforts to curb violent crime, recover illegal firearms and dismantle criminal networks across the state.

Two Arrested Along Osubi Road

In the first operation, operatives of the Orerokpe Division, acting on intelligence from the Civilian Anti-Cult Group, Osubi, arrested two suspected armed robbers allegedly operating in a tricycle along Osubi Road.

The suspects, identified as Musa Haruna, 22, and Mubarack Abdulahi, 20, were intercepted on October 11, 2026, in a tricycle with registration number BDG 429 QN.

A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size double-barrelled shotgun, seven live cartridges and a jackknife.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects may be members of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in robbing and abducting unsuspecting passengers and forcing them to transfer money from their bank accounts.

The Command said efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest other suspected members of the alleged syndicate.

Suspect Arrested Over Attack on Woman

In a separate incident, operatives of the Agbor Division arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Paul Francis, following a distress call over an alleged attempted armed robbery at Alifekede Village.

The incident occurred on October 12, 2026, when the suspect allegedly attempted to rob a woman and stabbed her on the forehead, leaving her with serious injuries.

The police said a locally made cut-to-size gun and a kitchen knife were recovered from the suspect.

The victim was subsequently taken to a medical facility, where she was receiving treatment and responding to care, according to the police.

Francis remains in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.

Three Arrested Over Alleged ₦2m Theft

Meanwhile, operatives of the Otu-Jeremi Division have arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged theft of ₦2 million and other valuables from a residence at Okwagbe Waterside Community.

The complaint, reported on October 10, 2026, involved the alleged theft of a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, an Infinix mobile phone and ₦2 million belonging to a female victim.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested Bruno Jonathan on October 12. A search of his residence reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size gun and one live cartridge.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Merit Solomon and Edna Iboyi, in connection with the case.

The police said the three suspects were in custody as investigations continued to establish their respective roles in the alleged crime.

CP Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, commended the operatives for their prompt response and collaboration with community security stakeholders.

He reiterated the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks, recover illegally possessed firearms and ensure that those found culpable of violent crimes are brought to justice.

Erale also assured residents of the police command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The Command reaffirmed that investigations into the separate cases were ongoing.
