Alhaji Iliyasu Goje Gassol, a notable figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, has officially transitioned to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

A two-term Executive Chairman of Gassol Local Government and a three-time Commissioner in Taraba State, Iliyasu Goje is the father of Dr. Salim Iliyasu Goje, CEO of Dan Mama Smart Homes Limited.

His move was marked by a warm reception from Hon. Hassan Adamu Matawallen Iware, the ADC Chairman in Taraba State, who commended Goje for his decision, emphasizing that the doors of ADC are open to all.

Accompanied by friends and supporters, Goje cited frustration with PDP’s leadership as the impetus for his defection.

He criticized PDP leaders, notably Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, for damaging the party’s integrity, expressing his reluctance to remain in a party where leadership feels ineffectual.

“Wike is working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while still claiming PDP membership,” he remarked.

Goje conveyed confidence in ADC’s leadership, asserting that the party possesses the necessary strength to challenge the APC in the upcoming 2027 elections.

“ADC has what it takes to transform the political landscape in Taraba State and Nigeria, providing a vision of hope for the citizens,” he added.

Calling on Nigerians to rally behind the ADC, Goje indicated a wave of impending defections from the PDP. “We are emptying the PDP in Taraba State into ADC, with more members set to join us,” he stated.

Notably, Dr. Salim Iliyasu Goje had previously moved from the PDP to the ADC, accompanied by thousands of his supporters who cited severe indiscipline and ongoing crises within the PDP.
