DELTA LG ELECTION: Imposition Allegedly Exposes How Delta Governor’s Aide Planted Family Members In Government Payroll

The current crisis brewing in the Delta State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the March 6th local government elections, has taken a new dimension.

The revelation was given on Tuesday 22nd December 2020, in a Save our Souls (SOS) letter to the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, by Comrade Humble Ochei and 51 other members of Aniocha South People’s Voice Association.

The association, disclosed that the Director-General (DG), Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Mrs. Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor, has purportedly concluded plans to impose her younger brother, Jude Ugbah Chukwunwike, on the people of Aniocha south as the candidate of the party come 2021.

According to the association: “Sir, we the concerned citizens and lovers of peace in Aniocha south local government area wish to bring to your notice the injustice, massive corruption, and evil imposition of a candidate in our local government area by Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Ugbah Chukwunwike Mrakpor, in her desperate bid to have her brother installed by hook or crook.

“Sir, we wish to state that it is directly opposed to your legacy. Jude Ugbah Chukwunwike is the younger brother of Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Ugbah Chukwunwike Mrakpor, he is a civil servant receiving salary in multiple state government agencies at a time when millions of youths in the council and state have no job.

“Jude is a Staff of Aniocha South Local Government Council, he collects salary monthly. He is an SSA to the Governor on Youth Development, Your Excellency, he receives salary.

“This same Jude receives salary from Aniocha South as the Co-ordinator attached to the Governor’s Office for the Widows Empowerment Scheme Programme.

“As if all these are not enough, the icing on the cake is, his employment with Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, where his sister, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Ugbah Chukwunwike Mrakpor is the Director General”, the group alleged.

They lamented that they are yet to come over the alleged quantum corruption and greed exhibited by the DG, alleging further that four of her siblings are in Delta State government’s payroll.

They accused her of paying attention only to her family members instead of using her good office to improve the welfare of majority of PDP voting population.

They pleaded with the governor to call Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Ugbah Chukwunwike Mrakpor to order, else PDP would suffer it anytime soon.

“Sir, we are aggrieved; we have been taken for a ride for too long. Enough is enough. We don’t want to exhibit any unlawful character but Sir, save us this trouble.

“Lately, the Aniocha South Local Government Area PDP party leaders met to select a candidate for the Chairmanship post into the Local Government Council; she is at it again, to impose her younger brother, discrediting one of the most hardworking Vice Chairman and prospective Chairmanship Aspirant by deploying stolen and ill gotten wealth.

“The likes of Chief Chris Agbobu and others have been heavily compromised.

“Your Excellency, we appeal to you to avoid President Mohammed Buhari’s grave error, which is appointing only Northern Muslims into relevant positions. This is nepotism, it is corruption, it is wickedness, it breeds disaffection, it promotes only the negative side of Godfatherism.

“Joan and Jude are not the best heads in Ubulu, they are not the brightest nor the peoples choice. They should leave the peoples choice to emerge without interference”, they noted.

They called on the governor to prevail on Mrs. Mrakpor, to allow the Vice chairman of the council whom they say has paid his dues to emerge as the party flag bearer for the election.

Hear them: “Hon Joe Ikenwe, has paid his dues, a faithful & loyal party member, a patriotic son of Ubulu clan with wide acceptance in Nsukwa & Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom respectively.

“He has served meritoriously as a Vice Chairman in Aniocha South Local Government where he positively impacted the youths. He needs all the support and encouragement to fly the party flag come 28/12/2020.

“The destiny of our great party and the destiny of Aniocha south local government must not be left in the hands of one woman Your Excellency, our humble request to you is that you use your Good Office to ensure that Hon. Joe Ikenwe, the current Vice Chairman of Aniocha south local government council, is supported to emerge as the PDP Chairmanship candidate for the council”.

They insisted that the politics of alleged imposition, intimidation, bribery, corruption and nepotism must stop.

The letter copied the state Chairman of the party, Barr. Kingsley Esiso, Chairman, Aniocha south Council, Chief Isaac Anwuzia, the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Chairman, Committee on Political Matters
Delta State House of Assembly.

At press time, text message sent to Mrs. Mrakpor, to get her side of the story, was not replied.
