Kaduna State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has commended teachers across the state and Nigeria for their contributions to education and national development.

Shehu ABG, in a message to mark World Teachers’ Day, described teachers as critical to the development of children and the advancement of society, acknowledging the sacrifices they make in the discharge of their responsibilities.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Shehu ABG Campaign Organisation, Yusuf Idris, the PDP candidate said the challenges facing the education sector made it necessary for governments to give greater attention to the welfare and professional development of teachers.

He said a functional education system required a motivated and properly equipped teaching workforce.

«“Teachers are the foundation upon which the future of our children and the progress of our society are built. Their commitment, sacrifice and dedication to nation-building must never be taken for granted,” Shehu ABG was quoted as saying.»

The governorship candidate pledged that, if elected in 2027, his administration would prioritise teachers’ welfare, professional development and capacity building.

He said his administration would pursue measures aimed at improving teachers’ working conditions, strengthening their professional skills and creating an environment conducive to effective teaching.

Shehu ABG also said education would occupy a central position in his proposed administration, with emphasis on upgrading learning infrastructure and improving teaching and learning conditions across Kaduna State.

According to him, sustained investment in education would help equip young people with the knowledge, skills and values required to respond to the demands of a changing world.

He further urged teachers to remain committed to their profession and continue serving as role models to younger generations.

The PDP candidate congratulated teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day and expressed hope for improved recognition, welfare and working conditions for education professionals across the country.

He also reaffirmed his stated commitment to an education system in Kaduna State where teachers are supported and children have access to quality learning opportunities.
