Agbu Kefas has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Taraba State after securing 166,357 votes to defeat former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, who polled 4,210 votes.

The result was announced by Dr. Haruna Yakubu Argungu, Secretary of the APC Election Committee for Taraba State, who represented the party leadership from Abuja during the conduct of the exercise.

Declaring the outcome, Argungu commended the Taraba State chapter of the APC, party executives, delegates, and members for what he described as their cooperation and commitment toward ensuring a peaceful and successful primary election.

He called on party members across the state to remain united and work collectively toward securing victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

“We appreciate the support and maturity displayed by party members throughout the process. This overwhelming outcome should serve as motivation for the party to remain focused and united ahead of the general elections,” he stated.

Speaking shortly after his declaration as winner, Governor Kefas expressed gratitude to God, party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him through the primary election.

The governor described the victory as a collective achievement for members of the APC in Taraba State.

“This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every member of our great party who believes in our shared vision for Taraba State,” Kefas said.

“I sincerely appreciate the party leadership at all levels, our delegates, youths, women groups, stakeholders, and supporters who contributed in one way or another to this success.”

Governor Kefas also extended appreciation to other aspirants who participated in the primary contest, noting that their involvement strengthened internal democracy within the party.

“Democracy provides an opportunity for all voices to be heard, and your participation has contributed to the growth and strength of our party. Though we contested as aspirants, from this moment we must unite as one family,” he added.

The governor stressed that the period of political contest was over and called for unity and collective action among APC members across the state.

According to him, the focus should now shift toward strengthening the party and advancing development in Taraba State through inclusive leadership and people-oriented governance.

Kefas pledged to continue providing leadership anchored on fairness, humility, commitment, and the welfare of the people.

“Together, we will continue to move Taraba State forward, protect the ideals of our party, and work toward greater success in the future,” he said.
