The Director-General of the Protocol Directorate at the Kano State Government House, Abdullahi Rogo, has disclosed that plans are underway for former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the incumbent Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to defect from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Rogo made the disclosure in a viral video released on Sunday by Arewa Update, stating that the decision followed wide consultations and internal agreements among key stakeholders within the Kwankwasiyya political movement.

According to him, the proposed defection was reached after a strategic meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other prominent members of the Kwankwasiyya bloc.

“After our meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other members of Kwankwasiyya, we agreed that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf should join the APC,” Rogo said.

He added that the decision reflected the collective will of Kano residents and voters, who, he claimed, believe the move would better serve the political and developmental interests of the state.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Kwankwaso nor Governor Yusuf has officially confirmed the defection, while the APC and NNPP leaderships are yet to issue formal statements on the development.
