Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.
The development was confirmed Wednesday night in a statement issued by his former media aide, Fred Chukwulobe.
Chukwulobe dismissed circulating rumours that the former minister had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen, clarifying instead that Ngige is currently in the custody of the EFCC.
“Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, is with the EFCC. More details later,” he said.
Ngige recently made headlines after armed men attacked his convoy in Anambra State. He was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
