Head Of Service Expresses Shock Over Demise Of PS

Delta State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko has expressed shock over the death of the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Cletus Obiegba.

He described the deceased PS as a core professional whose contribution to the development of the civil service could not be quantified.

Mr. Bayoko who expressed sadness over the sudden demise of the Permanent Secretary described the late Obiegba as an astute and meticulous man.

He stated this when College of Permanent Secretaries paid him a condolence visit on Wednesday 10th February at the conference hall of the Office of the Head of Service.

“No amount of words can express the grief we feel right now. It is a personal loss to me and a huge loss to the entire Civil Service but we however, take solace in the fact that the Lord knows best.” Bayoko lamented.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Sir Austin Oghoro, in his condolence message to the HOS said Mr Obiegba’s death who was one of them and the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service until his death, was a great loss to the state’s civil service.

Speaking further, Mr. Oghoro said that the visit was to condole with the HOS even as he prayed for God to give the staff of the office of the Head of Service the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Head of Service also led the Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra Ministerial Departments on a condolence visit to the residence of the late Obiegba where the deceased wife and members of his family were admonished to be strong and courageous in this trying times.

Speaking on behalf of the College of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Chris Ukpe, PS Ministry of Housing,  eulogized the late Obiegba and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Highpoints of the event which was conducted under strict NCDC guidelines was offering of prayers for the family and signing of the condolence register by the Head of Service.
