The governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State, Sir Chinyeaka Christian Ohaa, has advocated a new leadership direction for the state, urging a shift towards result-oriented governance anchored on economic growth, employment generation and improved public infrastructure.
Ohaa made the appeal on Thursday, October 29, 2026, during the NDC town hall meeting in Enugu, where he also declared support for former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, describing his leadership vision as reflective of the accountability, prudence and development-oriented governance Nigeria urgently needs.
Addressing participants at the gathering, the NDC governorship candidate maintained that Enugu required purposeful leadership capable of translating its vast economic potential into tangible benefits for residents.
He identified job creation, accessible healthcare, quality education, infrastructure development and expanded opportunities for young people as critical priorities that must shape the state’s governance agenda.
According to him, the business of governance should not be reduced to political rhetoric and campaign promises but must be measured by concrete achievements and the positive impact of public policies on the lives of ordinary citizens.
Ohaa further emphasised that transparency, accountability and responsible management of public resources were indispensable to rebuilding citizens’ confidence in government.
He maintained that public office holders must demonstrate genuine commitment to the collective interests of the people rather than allow personal ambitions and partisan considerations to undermine effective governance.
Reaffirming his determination to provide what he described as a new direction for Enugu State, Ohaa expressed optimism that the state could attain greater economic prosperity through realistic development policies, accountable leadership and inclusive governance.
He called for a governance philosophy that places the welfare of the people at the centre of decision-making, insisting that Enugu deserves leadership that delivers measurable progress and creates opportunities for all.
