The Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has called on residents of Ogun State to rally behind President Bola Tinubu and support his re-election bid in 2027, describing the administration’s economic reforms as necessary steps towards national recovery and sustainable development.
Tompolo made the appeal on Friday in Abeokuta during the inauguration of the Ogun State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, where 26 campaign vehicles and other mobilisation materials were presented to strengthen the group’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Represented at the event by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, Mr Kestin Pondi, Tompolo commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold and far-reaching policy decisions, insisting that the reforms were gradually restoring investor confidence, attracting capital into the country and stabilising the economy.
He noted that the administration had recorded significant progress in addressing some of Nigeria’s longstanding economic challenges, including the recurring fuel scarcity, while also highlighting improvements in infrastructure development and the regular payment of workers’ salaries and pension obligations.
According to him, although the reforms have come with economic difficulties, their long-term benefits would outweigh the temporary sacrifices required to reposition the country.
“We have a president who said Nigeria must be better. Today, there is no more capital flight, investors are returning and the naira is stabilising.
“Go everywhere and tell them your son, your brother, your father must return to Aso Rock. Make them understand that he’s the best. The reforms have no doubt come with challenges, but just like the challenges a woman in labour faces but rejoices at the birth of her child, we shall all be happy,” he said.
Tompolo maintained that Nigeria was following a reform trajectory similar to those adopted by developed economies, expressing confidence that the country would emerge stronger if the current policies were sustained.
He urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the administration, stressing that President Tinubu was committed to improving the nation’s fortunes.
The Niger Delta leader further assured that the movement would collaborate with other support groups and political structures in Ogun State to secure an overwhelming victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all elective positions in 2027.
In her remarks, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, applauded the movement for its commitment to the president’s re-election project, describing the donation of campaign vehicles and other materials as a significant boost to the state’s mobilisation efforts.
She declared that Ogun State was prepared to demonstrate its appreciation for the benefits of the Tinubu administration by supporting his return to office.
The deputy governor, however, cautioned against electoral complacency, urging party supporters to translate their political enthusiasm into actual votes at the polling units.
“No matter how confident we are, we have to come out and vote. There is no room for complacency, no need to say it is a done deal because the deal can only be done at the polling booth.
“We have received a lot from the president because we supported him before. If we do it again, it means we appreciate him and we want more,” she stated.
Similarly, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, called for sustained support for President Tinubu, arguing that the administration had begun to change the country’s economic narrative through reforms and policy interventions across critical sectors.
Adeola said Nigeria was witnessing significant transformations since independence, expressing optimism that the improving macroeconomic outlook would translate into better living conditions for ordinary citizens.
“For the first time since independence, we are seeing changes in all sectors of the economy. Things are changing for good, investors are coming back, international organisations have acknowledged the positive changes, the macro economy is doing well and the micro economy is picking up and will do better in no distant time,” he said.
He disclosed that stakeholders in Ogun State had resolved to deliver not less than two million votes for President Tinubu in January 2027, describing the target as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to the president’s political future.
The senator also expressed appreciation to the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement for providing campaign vehicles and other resources, noting that the gesture would strengthen grassroots mobilisation and facilitate wider political engagement.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the movement, Sunday Asuku, urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against what he described as misleading narratives from opposition political groups.
Asuku maintained that President Tinubu remained the preferred choice for the country’s leadership, calling on supporters to protect the gains of the administration by voting for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
“The right choice before Nigeria is Tinubu. With President Tinubu, we’re on track. Don’t allow anyone to use you to derail the journey. Come January 2027, vote for Asiwaju,” he said.
The inauguration and presentation of campaign materials mark another step in the movement’s efforts to expand its grassroots political structures and intensify mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Ogun State.
