The state government seems to be overwhelmed by the flood as there appears to be no succor for the people as the water has overflow its banks.
In a similar development, in Obetim-Uno Community, in Afor, also in Ndokwa east local government area of the state, o er 4, 000 people have been rendered homeless by the flood.
According to the community High Chief, Prince Okwuguni, two-thirds of the community is flooded resulting in a very sad situation as some small scale business owners have been sent out of business.
The people called on the federal, state and local governments to come to their rescue, especially as they are finding it hard to cope, having just come out from the Covid-19 pandemic.
In spite of the enormous challenges the flood has come with, the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration, has insisted that the state would not build camps for the helpless and poor masses.
Briefing journalists Tuesday 13th October 2020, after a State Executive Council meeting, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu (CEA), reiterated that the state government was not going to set up holding camps.
He however added that plans were on to mitigate the impact of the flood on citizens through the Ministry of Environment.
These are residential areas that could only be accessed by speedboats.
