The Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) has successfully enrolled additional residents into its Contributory Health Scheme through the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI).
This initiative aims to enhance access to quality and affordable healthcare for vulnerable populations throughout the state.
Enrollment events took place at Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, where 250 indigent beneficiaries, primarily ministry staff, were registered, and at Umiaghwa Village in Okpe Local Government Area, enrolling 100 pupils from Umiaghwa Primary School.
During the events, the Director-General of DSCHC, Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, represented by Mr. Emmanuel Akpofure, Director of ICT, Planning, Research and Statistics, expressed satisfaction with the increasing enrollment figures, particularly through the IEAI.
He emphasized the initiative’s reflection of philanthropy and social responsibility among individuals and organizations, both domestically and internationally, dedicated to improving healthcare access in Delta State.
Dr. Akpoveta revealed that the enrollment of 250 beneficiaries at Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry was funded by Ebegha Winston Taralayefa, while the Edward Ederaine Foundation sponsored the registration of the 100 pupils in Umiaghwa.
He noted that this initiative aligns with the Delta State Government’s goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage.
“Our Commission is dedicated to expanding enrollment consistent with the M.O.R.E Agenda of His Excellency, particularly in health insurance and sustainable health financing.
“Our objective is to prevent residents from facing financial hardship or asset liquidation to access quality healthcare,” he stated, commending the sponsors for their generosity and dedication to public welfare.
In his remarks, Chief Hon. Deacon Taralayefa expressed that the sponsorship stemmed from a desire to contribute positively to society.
He praised the General Overseer of Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry, Jeremiah Fufeyin, for his philanthropy and ethical commitment to humanitarian efforts.
He recognized partnering with the Delta State Government as a privilege, highlighting the impressive infrastructural and socio-economic advancements achieved in the state.
Deacon Taralayefa further noted that the initiative allows ministry members and staff to benefit from the contributory health scheme amid current economic challenges.
He acknowledged the collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Health and its agencies as a significant honor.
Additionally, Charity Tuvwe, representing the Edward Ederaine Foundation, reported that residents in the community have faced difficulties accessing healthcare during emergencies, particularly given the non-functional health center in their area, which necessitates long travel for medical care.
Mrs. Tuvwe expressed optimism that the sponsorship of 100 indigent persons would markedly improve healthcare access, enhancing the overall wellbeing of Umiaghwa community residents
