As the protest against the activities of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), continues vehemently across the country, Delta state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, said it is the right of the youths to do so peacefully.

The governor however tasked them to be calm and law-abiding at all times while carrying out what he termed “legitimate grievances”.

Okowa in his verified Facebook account on Tuesday 13th October 2020, requested that the police should allow them to express themselves without any form of brutality on them.

According to Okowa, “Peaceful protests are a necessary part of the democratic process. As young people across Delta State continue to express their legitimate grievances in this manner, I ask that they remain calm and law-abiding at all times.

“I also request that the Police allow them to express themselves and refrain from using brute force in responding to these protests”.

Okowa, assured the youths that there would be engagement of critical stakeholders in ensuring the police act professionally.

“Going forward, we shall continue to engage with all relevant stakeholders to reform the Nigeria Police Force in a manner that makes it more professional, disciplined, and accountable to the people”, Okowa, added.
