Senator Ned Nwoko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation and representative of Delta North Senatorial District, has categorically denied reports suggesting he abandoned delegates advocating for the creation of Anioma State during the recent Constitution Review public hearing held in Enugu.

The clarification was issued on Monday via a statement from his Media Office, in response to an online publication (not Vanguard) which alleged that the senator failed to support Anioma delegates who traveled to the event. Senator Nwoko dismissed the report as “a blatant falsehood laced with sensationalism.”

He emphasized that the advocacy for Anioma State is not a personal project but a shared aspiration he is proudly championing on behalf of his constituents.

“It has become unfortunately routine for this particular platform, under the editorial recklessness of its publisher, to engage in baseless and sensational reporting,” the statement said.

“The headline involving Senator Ned Nwoko and Anioma is yet another tired ploy by an individual who has turned blackmail into a profession—targeting those he neither understands nor can influence.”

Senator Nwoko clarified that all interested delegates from Delta North who participated in the Enugu hearing were fully supported with necessary logistics, including transportation, feeding, and accommodation.

“Every delegate who indicated interest in attending the hearing was responsibly catered for,” he said. “There was never any discussion or agreement involving monetary inducement for participation.”

He further stated that the Anioma advocacy is a matter of equity and identity, not a political transaction.

“Supporting Anioma State is about justice, not patronage,” the statement added. “Senator Ned Nwoko does not offer bribes for people to pursue their rights. He will not pay individuals to believe in their future or defend their heritage.”

The senator also took aim at the publisher behind the misleading report, describing him as a “discredited activist and professional blackmailer known for distorting facts and chasing cheap attention with misleading headlines.”

Reaffirming his unwavering commitment, Senator Nwoko reiterated his resolve to continue the fight for the creation of Anioma State through legitimate legislative channels and people-centered advocacy.

“My mission is clear: to secure justice, equity, and recognition for Anioma people within the Nigerian federation. No amount of slander or blackmail will derail this noble pursuit,” he concluded.
