A retired senior military officer, Major General Raymond Ochei (Rtd), has paid glowing tribute to the late Anioma Royal Mother and revered Omu Anioma, Martha Dunkwu, on the second anniversary of her passing, describing her as a bridge-builder and matriarch whose legacy continues to inspire generations across Anioma land and beyond.

In a solemn remembrance issued on Monday, February 16, 2026, Ochei reflected on the enduring impact of the late royal icon, who passed peacefully on February 16, 2024.

He noted that her tenure as Omu Anioma was defined by unwavering commitment to cultural preservation, community service, and the advancement of women and youth.

According to him, her “borderless leadership and mentorship” earned her the revered title of NNEOHA — Mother to All and Mother Without Borders, across Igboland.

The retired general described the late royal mother as a custodian of Anioma traditions whose wisdom helped revive respect for the people’s shared heritage.

He further highlighted her role as a passionate advocate for women’s leadership and empowerment, as well as a nurturing mother-figure whose warmth, encouragement, and spiritual guidance strengthened families, institutions, and community leaders.

Ochei stressed that the legacy of compassion, dignity, and selfless service left behind by the late Omu Anioma remains deeply etched in the social and cultural fabric of Delta State and the wider Nigerian society.

He noted that many of the initiatives she championed in social welfare, cultural identity, and educational empowerment continue to resonate years after her transition.

“As a son and subject she held so dear in her lifetime,” Ochei prayed for divine comfort for the family of the late royal mother, the Anioma people, and traditional institutions she impacted.

He also prayed that her gentle soul would continue to rest in perfect peace, while urging the people to sustain the noble ideals she stood for.
