The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Festus Ahon, has lauded the successful conduct of the South-South Zonal Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a defining moment of unity, consolidation, and renewed political coordination within the region.

Addressing journalists at the end of the congress, Ahon expressed appreciation for the peaceful atmosphere that characterized the exercise, noting that it reflects a growing spirit of cooperation and shared purpose among stakeholders in the South-South.

He commended governors and party leaders across the zone for their strategic alignment under the APC, emphasizing that the development positions the region more strongly within the national political framework, especially ahead of future elections.

According to him, the congress marks a significant step in enhancing the South-South’s political relevance and influence at the national level.

“This congress represents unity and consolidation. For the first time in a long while, the South-South is aligning under one political platform to pursue the collective aspirations of its people,” he stated.

Ahon further noted that the alignment of states within the region with the ruling party at the center underscores the strategic importance of the South-South in Nigeria’s economic and governance architecture.

“As a region that plays a critical role in the nation’s economy, it is imperative that we align with the central government to fully harness opportunities for growth and development,” he added.

He also urged the newly elected zonal executives to build on the prevailing unity by fostering peace, inclusiveness, and collaboration, stressing that sustained cohesion remains key to the party’s electoral success.

“They must preserve this unity and ensure that peace and harmony remain the guiding principles. Only through collective effort can we achieve our political objectives and deliver the region effectively,” Ahon said.

The Governor’s spokesman highlighted the impressive turnout at the congress, noting the presence of key political figures, including the Senate President, governors from across the South-South, members of the National Assembly, State legislators, and other critical stakeholders.

He observed that the participation of such high-profile leaders reflects deepening cohesion and a shared commitment to advancing the interests of the region under a unified platform.

The congress, widely regarded as a milestone for the APC in the South-South, concluded peacefully, with stakeholders expressing optimism about the party’s growing strength and future prospects in the region.
