At a sensitization cum interactive meeting held at the instance of the Political Adviser to the state Governor, Omimi Daniel Esquire, at the Sapele Athletics Club, Sapele, for community, youth and women leaders from the three local governments, it was agreed that all hands must be on deck to stem the ugly trend of cultism and other vices among youths.
The Political Adviser, appealed to parents in the three local government areas to brush up their wards in the area of moral rectitude, noting that the fast decaying moral decadence is an impediment to the progress of the Okowa administration’s drive to bequeath enduring legacies in line with its Stronger Delta vision.
In his opening remarks, the Political Adviser to the Governor, Omimi Esquire, noted the worry of Governor Okowa over youth violation of hitherto known family values leading to cultism and get rich quick syndrome known as “Yahoo”.
Said Omimi Esquire: “This interactive session is geared towards the betterment of our people in Sapele, Okpe, and Ethiope West. For His Excellency the Governor to approve this sensitization meeting clearly underscores the high premium he places on our various communities.
“A plethora of projects are domiciled around your various communities. Specifically, the number three citizen of the state is from Okpe. Ditto the hard working Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye. In Sapele, the number of political appointtee at the highest level will shock you. Ethiope West of course is dear to the Governor’s heart. A lot is going on and will still go on”.
The very enlightening sensitization meeting saw the various communities in Ethiope West, Sapele, and Okpe local governments, appealing to Governor Okowa’ to hearken to their appeals for more development.
They however pledged that they were ready to assist the government tackle the problematic issue of cultism and get rich quick syndrome among youths, noting that it is a can errors that will put a flight on the Okowa administration if not checkmated urgently.
Goodwill message were delivered by Hon. lsaiah Esiovwa, Okpe local government council Chairmanship candidate under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) platform, who spoke on the need for communities to hold government accountable in delivering dividends of democracy.
