Akumazi, Delta State – April 11, 2025 — In a move sending shockwaves through Delta State’s political landscape, Hon. Dominic Izediunor, former Deputy Leader of the Legislative Arm of Ika North East Local Government Council, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today.

The defection, which took place in his hometown of Akumazi, saw Izediunor leading a mass exodus of over 100 grassroots supporters from his ward, signaling a major shift in political allegiance just months ahead of key electoral activities in the state.

Izediunor, a respected figure within the PDP for years, did not mince words in his declaration.

He cited what he described as “internal stagnation, lack of direction, and a disconnect from the grassroots” as reasons for his departure from the party that has long held sway in Delta State.

“This is not just a personal decision. It is a collective movement for the future of our people,”

Izediunor said during his announcement, which was met with cheers from a crowd of loyalists and APC chieftains who welcomed the move with open arms.

Political analysts believe this defection could be a harbinger of deeper cracks within the PDP in Ika North East and possibly across Delta State.

With Izediunor’s strong local influence and grassroots network, APC insiders see the move as a strategic win in their bid to make further inroads into PDP territory.

Meanwhile, PDP leaders in the LGA have remained tight-lipped, with no official statement released as of press time.

However, sources within the party suggest there is growing concern over potential ripple effects, especially if more defections follow.

As the political temperature rises, all eyes are now on Delta’s political chessboard, and Izediunor’s bold move may just have set a new game in motion.
