The challenge of drinking water affecting the people of Oviri-Olomu Community in Ughelli south local government area of Delta State was assuaged when an indigene of the community, Mr. Godwin Izakpa, donated a mono water pump to the Community.
Speaking during the commissioning of the project, Mr. izakpa said he was moved to construct the mono water pump for the community when he saw the pains and suffering the people were passing through to get drinking water, which he said, was not even hygienic.
He said that it was his little way of contributing to the progress and happiness of his people, promising to carry out maintenance of the pump from time to time.
Mr izakpa acknowledged that one mono pump was too small for Oviri-Olomu Community considering its population, but added that as time went on, but added that with availability of resources, he would add another.
While commissioning the project, the President General of the community, Chief John Ewenede said that the effort of Mr Izakpa was commendable.
Chief Ewenede who likened water to life, charged son and daughters of the community to emulate the gesture of Mr izakpa.
He tasked the people to protect the facility and make good use of it.
Highpoint of the ceremony were the cutting of the tape and prayers for the project offered by Pastor Israel Azagba.
