The Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, has congratulated the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, on his recognition by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as a “Christian Icon of Faith” and a “Distinguished Public Servant with Integrity,” in acknowledgment of his courage, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to Christian values, during the association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
In a congratulatory message, Dr. Osuoza described the prestigious honour as a significant acknowledgment of the Governor’s commitment to Christian values, integrity, humility, compassion, and selfless service to humanity.
According to the Commissioner, the recognition is particularly remarkable because it underscores two fundamental pillars of responsible leadership: unwavering faith in Almighty God and an enduring commitment to integrity in public service.
He noted that the decision of the Christian Association of Nigeria to honour Governor Oborevwori during its Golden Jubilee celebration carries profound moral and spiritual significance, especially considering the association’s longstanding role in promoting Christian unity, moral values, and responsible leadership in Nigeria.
“Your Excellency, this distinguished honour represents a meaningful acknowledgment of the values of faith, humility, compassion, accountability, and service to humanity that you have consistently espoused in your personal life and public responsibilities.
“Indeed, the Holy Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 22:1 that ‘A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.’
“This recognition is, therefore, not merely a ceremonial decoration but a celebration of the enduring importance of character, moral responsibility, and the fear of God in leadership,” Osuoza stated.
The Commissioner further observed that the conferment of the honour provides an opportunity to reflect on the indispensable place of integrity, religious tolerance, and compassion in governance.
He maintained that public office remains a sacred trust, requiring those entrusted with leadership responsibilities to demonstrate accountability, fairness, and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.
Dr. Osuoza also commended the Christian Association of Nigeria for using its Golden Jubilee celebration to recognise individuals whose public service and personal values reflect the ideals the association seeks to promote.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance, protection, and blessings upon Governor Oborevwori as he discharges his responsibilities to the people of Delta State.
“As Your Excellency receives this distinguished honour, my earnest prayer is that Almighty God, who has graciously ordered your footsteps, will continue to endow you with divine wisdom, excellent health, uncommon strength, and the spiritual discernment required to discharge your enormous responsibilities.
“May your faith remain unshakable, your integrity uncompromised, and your dedication to the service of God and humanity continually strengthened.
“May your light continue to shine before men, to the glory of Almighty God,” he prayed.
Dr. Osuoza concluded by extending his heartfelt congratulations to the Governor, describing the recognition at CAN’s Golden Jubilee as a memorable milestone worthy of celebration.
