ISSELE-AZAGBA, DELTA STATE — The Ogbe-Ani Quarters in Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, has announced plans to commence the first phase of a land recovery and regularisation exercise covering designated portions of its ancestral land.
The exercise, according to a public notice issued by the community, is designed to identify, document and verify land interests within the affected areas as part of efforts to safeguard community land and establish proper records of ownership and occupation.
The notice was signed on behalf of the elders, youths and other stakeholders by the Traditional Head of Ogbe-Ani Quarters, Diokpa Sir (Dr) Peter Ejiwe; Chairman of the Ogbe-Ani Land Recovery Committee, Hon. Richard E. Anonyei; Secretary of the committee, ESV. Sir Peter I. Kifordu; and Ogbe-Ani Youth President, Comrade Udoka Paul Anonyei.
The areas listed for the first phase are Odih Farmland, Uzor Ezesoawi and Afia Uzor, all located along Uzougom Road.
The community said the initiative had received the unanimous backing of its elders, youths and stakeholders, stressing that the exercise was being undertaken in the interest of the community and generations yet unborn.
As part of the process, bona fide Ogbe-Ani indigenes with survey plans or other relevant land documents covering properties within the designated areas have been directed to submit copies of such documents to the Land Recovery Committee on or before September 30, 2026.
The physical phase of the exercise is expected to commence in the first week of October 2026.
The community further urged individuals, families, developers, investors, corporate organisations, institutions and other persons or entities with interests in the affected areas to engage the committee for verification, documentation and regularisation.
It also appealed to persons who acquired land from individuals without the authority, consent or endorsement of Ogbe-Ani Quarters to present their claims for verification as part of the exercise.
The notice cautioned that failure to comply with the directive could create difficulties for affected interests during the recovery and regularization process.
While announcing the exercise, the community assured all concerned that the process would be conducted peacefully, transparently and in an orderly manner.
It therefore called for the cooperation of all affected parties to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.
The public notice was issued in September 2026, with the Land Recovery Committee designated to receive documents and handle enquiries relating to the exercise.
