…says ongoing speed of development necessary to Advance Delta

Executive Assistant on Communications and Orientation to Delta State Governor, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe has again assured Deltans that governor Sheriff Oborevwori, will continue to upscale the scope of durable infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the three senatorial districts of Delta Central, North and South, as encapsulated in his MORE agenda undergoing full scale implementation.

He gave the assurance on Wednesday, during a SLEEK FM public affairs phone-in programme which was broadcast live in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area and monitored across the state, saying that there are numerous ongoing educational and roads infrastructure projects across Delta North, including; Ika North East and Ika South, which would significantly increase the scope of commercial activities, create jobs and wealth for the people in those communities.

Oghenesivbe stated that the ongoing large scale development in the state was and still very necessary to Advance Delta in all ramifications, noting that governor Oborevwori has so far exhibited result oriented leadership skills and shall continue to do so to deliver more, and more dividends of good governance to the people till May 29, 2031.

The Chief Executive Officer of the State Orientation Bureau, Barr Latimore, listed some of the projects in Delta North to include; construction of Mission road, Akumazi-Umuocha road, construction of Ute-Ogbeke-Otolokpo road, construction of Ute-Erumu-Idumesah road, construction of 11.5 kilometers Ute-Okpu-Ute-Elugu road and the underground water tunnel mega projects in Owa-Alero, Owa-Alizomor and Owa-Odie to empty flood water into Iyi-Amah stream.

He said these solid road infrastructure projects are near completion based on visible progress of work already done, and as stipulated in the contractual terms, adding that governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the contractors are working round the clock to ensure that the projects are ready for commissioning within time, while some of them shall be commissioned during activities to mark the first year anniversary of this administration in May.

Oghenesivbe also mentioned some ongoing infrastructure projects in the educational sector in Delta North, namely; construction of Faculty of Engineering, Delta State University, Owa-Alero campus, construction of College of Health Sciences, University of Delta, Agbor campus and the construction of Faculty of Environmental Sciences, University of Delta, Owa-Alero campus, among others.

He, however, noted that high inflation rate of over thirty two percent, which consistently increased the costs of construction materials and equipment, has to a large extent slowed down pace of work at some construction sites across the state, as applicable to other states of the federation, which was why some contractors had to pressurize the state government to review contracts, while some others left sites till after the review.

The EA Communications and Orientation, assured Deltans that governor Oborevwori is on top of the contract review matter, and that affected contractors shall soon mobilize to site to complete all such projects, assuring that uncompleted projects inherited from the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, shall be completed and commissioned for use, while initiating and executing new projects across the state.

In another radio interview monitored in Asaba, Oghenesivbe further disclosed that similar educational infrastructure projects are near completion at Dennis Osadebey University, Anwai near Asaba and Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, while others have been completed and commissioned by the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, including the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge of Dennis Osadebey University.

He further stated that the state governor, Elder Oborevwori recently approved the payment of Bursary to Students of Delta State origin in all Institutions of Higher Learning across the country, to enable them cope with the frightening high inflation rate that had drastically increased cost of living on a day to day basis.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is already upscaling solid infrastructure development in the state, as can be seen from the flyovers and road expansion projects in Warri, Uvwie, Enerhen, Effurun and environ, as well as Ika North East, Ika South, respectively.

“The design of Warri Stadium will soon be ready, and governor Oborevwori assured Deltans that upon completion, the stadium shall become a world class sports facility that would provide better opportunities for socioeconomic and sports development in Warri, and by extension, Delta State, which would also transform Osubi Airport to a major air transportation hub in the country due to expected regular national and international sports events.

“Construction of educational infrastructure is ongoing in some schools and institutions of higher learning in the state, more particularly the construction of the Faculties of Engineering, Environmental Sciences and College of Health Sciences at the University of Delta, Owa-Alero and Agbor campuses.

“The ongoing solid roads infrastructure projects in Delta North senatorial district, especially the 11.5 Kilometer Ute-Okpu, Ute-Elugu road, construction of Ute-Erumu-Idumesah road, construction of Ite-Ogbeke-Otolokpo road and the construction of Mission road, Akumazi-Umuocha road, among others, are also near completion and due for commissioning in the near future.

“One of the major focus of this administration is to spread development to the three Senatorial districts and across all sectors, to include but not limited to; infrastructure, women empowerment, job and wealth creation, so as to bring about a peaceful and economically viable state through the instrumentality of governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda that is now being implemented to Advance Delta,” Oghenesivbe assured.
