Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has written to the State House of Assembly, notifying the lawmakers of his intention to proceed on two weeks vacation from Monday 7th October 2024.
The Governor’s letter was read on Thursday October 3rd 2024, at plenary by the Presiding Officer and Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor.
Oborevwori in the four paragraph letter, stated that in accordance with section 190 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, shall perform the duties of his office as Acting Governor during the period of the leave.
The Governor said he will greatly appreciate if the notice is placed before the House for the information of the Honourable members.
The letter reads “I bring warm greetings to the Right Honourable Speaker and the members of the Delta State House of Assembly and inform the Honourable House, that I would be proceeding on two weeks vacation leave from Monday, 7th October 2024.
“In accordance with Section 190 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, His Excellency, Chief (Sir) Monday Onyeme, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, shall perform the duties of my office as Acting Governor during the period of the leave.
“I will greatly appreciate if the foregoing is placed before the Honourable House for their information.
“Please, accept the assurance of my high regard and best wishes for you and the Honourable members of the House”.
The letter was received sequel to a motion to that effect by the House Majority Leader, Hon (Dr) Emeka Nwaobi and adopted by members.
The House received the report of its Special Committee on Bills on the review of the report of the Public Accounts Committee on the report of the Auditor-General (State) on the Accounts of the Delta State Government for the year ended 31st December 2022.
The report was presented at plenary by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon (Dr) Emeka Nwaobi, who represents Aniocha North and Majority Leader of the House.
The report was subsequently adopted following a motion to that effect by the House.
The House adjourned plenary till Tuesday 8th October 2024.
