Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured Deltans that the state has entered a new phase of sustainable development and prosperity as it commemorates its 35th anniversary.

Oborevwori gave the assurance in a goodwill message to mark the anniversary, describing the 35-year journey of Delta State as a remarkable story of resilience, unity and collective sacrifice by successive generations of its people.

In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor congratulated Deltans at home and abroad, describing the anniversary as an important milestone in the political and socioeconomic evolution of the state.

Delta State was created on August 27, 1991, from the defunct Bendel State.

Oborevwori acknowledged the contributions of former governors and other past leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, private sector operators and citizens whose efforts, he said, had contributed significantly to the growth of the state over the decades.

He said his administration was determined to consolidate the gains of previous administrations while pursuing policies and programmes centred on the welfare and aspirations of the people.

According to him, the administration’s focus on infrastructural renewal, economic expansion, human capital development and inclusive governance is aimed at creating an environment where citizens can thrive and businesses can prosper.

The Governor said ongoing projects and reforms across the state reflected his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible dividends of democracy and expanding opportunities for Deltans.

He called on citizens to sustain the spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence, urging them to support initiatives designed to move the state forward.

“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today.

“The shining era of Delta State is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” Oborevwori said.

The Governor extended his best wishes to Deltans in Nigeria and the diaspora, urging them to renew their commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility as the state begins another chapter in its development journey.
