Aniagwu gave the assurance on Thursday 4th February 2021 when he played host to the executive members of the State Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council.
The Commissioner revealed that plans were already on for the creation of more professional departments in the Ministry of Information, adding that they were part of strategies to restructure the ministry for more effective service delivery.
He also revealed that plans were on ground towards organising training and retaining programmes for iinformation officers before the end of the first quarter of 2021, saying that such programmes would run at least twice a year.
According to the commissioner, the trainings would help to bridge observed capacity gaps in officers and prepare them for challenges ahead.
He stressed that officers needed to be trained not just on memo writing but also on doing the right thing as individuals, and also to be abreast with general knowledge, adding that the ability to function was dependent on what an individual possess inside.
On the solutions to the problem of missing files, Aniagwu said, “I want to see how I can digitise our registery,” stating that it would put an end to lost of files leading to poor documentation, acknowledging however that even though it would be expensive, the arrangement would to actualize eventually.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Information Chapel of the NUJ, Comrade Kenneth Obieh, said that the visit was reassure the commissioner of the chapel’s commitment to synergise with the ministry always in moving the ministry forward.
He thanked the commissioner for always being committed and considerate towards the welfare of the staff of ministry.
