Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, has hailed the appointment of Hon. Samuel Mariere as the Executive Chairman of the Board, affirming their confidence that his appointment had rekindled their hope of better days ahead for the board.
Chairman of NASU SUBEB, Comrade Monye Oluchukwu gave the accolade when he led a 21-member delegation of the union on a courtesy visit on the Executive Chairman of Board on Thursday.
While expressing confidence on the calibre of Hon. Mariere and members of his team, the SUBEB NASU chairman, commended the insightful nature and outstanding abilities of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori on the choice of Mariere for job.
They congratulated the Executive Chairman and members of the board on their well deserved appointment, and sued for the chairman’s intervention to resolve the issue of delay of release of promotion letters of their members even as he appealed for training and re-training of members.
Hon. Mariere who appreciated the group for the visit, however solicited their cooperation and support in advancing the board, and a positive reference in the future.
Highlighting the significance of working synergy and harmony amongst colleagues, the SUBEB Chairman said it was key to growth and progress, just as he urged both Principal Officers and, Education Secretaries to accord each other due respect.
In response to the plea of the visiting team, Mariere assured them of a conducive working environment, prompt release of promotion letters to those due before the end of February and an assurance of inclusiveness in training and retraining of non teaching staff.
Earlier, the NASU branch Chairman, Comrade Monye Oluchukwu has described the Union the third largest Trade Union in Nigeria and unionizes all non teaching staff employed by SUBEB.
