Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Samuel Mariere has urged Education Secretaries in the State to be deliberate in improving the standard of education in their respective localities.
The SUBEB boss gave the charge during his maiden meeting with Education Secretaries from the 25 Local Government Areas of the State at the SUBEB Headquarters Office, Asaba on Wednesday.
While emphasizing that their proactive actions would determine the educational future of the children, the SUBEB Chairman retirated his resolve by working tirelessly towards increased enrollment rates in public Primary Schools in the State through improved service delivery, infrastructure and manpower.
Mariere further stated that the Board would not tolerate indiscipline amongst Head Teachers, urging the Education Secretaries to ensure that no one was found indulging in any form of illegal collection of fees and levies.

The Executive Chairman who disclosed that the Board would visit communities and hold town hall meetings with communities to involve them in school ownership and management, stated that the initiative was aimed at improving security in schools as well as to safe guard school infrastructure against vandalization.
Dean of the Education Secretaries, Mrs.Esiso Roselyn, in a votes thanks on behalf of her colleagues, commended the Board and it’s management for the parley even as she assured the Chairman of their support and cooperation.
Highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a congratulatory cards to the Executive Chairman and Members of the board.
Present at the meeting were Members of the Board, Mr Chukwuemeka Uwadia, Comrade Akpoghenerhe Onome, Mrs Josephine Edjeren and the Permanent Secretary to the Board Sir Byron Unini.
