Chief Emuoboh K. Gbagi has formally resigned from his position as Executive Assistant on Political Matters to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in a move that signals his intention to pursue elective office and expand his scope of public service.

The resignation, conveyed in a letter dated March 25, 2026, and effective same day of March 26, 2026, was addressed to the Governor through the Secretary to the State Government.

In the letter, Gbagi explained that his decision was driven by persistent calls from his constituents urging him to present himself for higher responsibility in elective leadership.

Describing his time in office as a privilege, Gbagi expressed deep appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of the State.

He noted that the support and guidance he received during his tenure were invaluable, while reaffirming his commitment to the principles of integrity, accountability, and good governance.

In a public announcement accompanying his resignation, Gbagi further underscored the personal conviction behind his decision.

“I have formally resigned from my role as Executive Assistant on Political Matters to His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to answer a deeper call to serve at a broader level,” he stated.

He emphasized that the move was carefully considered and rooted in a strong sense of responsibility to his people.

“This decision, which takes effect on March 26, 2026, was not made lightly. It is my commitment to listening, and the strong sense of responsibility I carry to do more for my people,” he added.

Gbagi also expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him during his time in government, noting that his exit marks the beginning of a new phase in his public service journey.

“I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the trust placed in me. This is not the end, it is a new beginning,” he added.

Political observers say the development may reshape local dynamics within Delta State’s political landscape, as Gbagi prepares to take on a broader leadership role through the electoral process.
