Traditional rulers, President-Generals (PGs) of Communities, youth leaders and stakeholders in the ongoing Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD), exercise in Delta State, have been charged to ensure the safety of staff in their various communities.

The Federal Commissioner representing Delta State in the Board of National Population Commission (NPC), Sir Richard Odibo, made the appeal during his courtesy visit to the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh Kingdom in Warri south west local government area of the state.

The Federal Commissioner, who also appealed for the provision of local guides from communities in the area in assisting staff of the Commission during the exercise, stated that some staff were kidnapped during the exercise in Taraba State.

He acknowledged that the reception of the people of Ogbe-Ijoh towards staff of the Commission has been cordial.

While appealing for the continued cordial relationship, he disclosed that he had assured staff of the Commission of their safety in the State, calling on communities not to disappoint him.

The Secretary of the Palace of the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh Kingdom, Chief Okosu Jolomi, who spoke on behalf of the Pere, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Couple Mackson Oromoni, assured that the safety of staff of the Commission was guaranteed.

Representatives of Ijaw kingdoms of Gbaramatu and Esaba who also spoke, gave similar assurances.

Shortly after his flagging off the exercise at the Civic Centre in Ogbe-Ijoh Community, Odibo told journalists in an interactive session that the exercise had so far been peaceful and successful in Delta State.
